Immediate need:

ANSi is seeking to hire a technical project manager with experience managing projects related to transforming COBOL-based legacy business applications and developing applications using Microsoft .NET technologies for a client in Texas.

The role of the project manager is to plan, manage, control, coordinate, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of a team consisting of ANSi resources, client personnel, and external partner consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The project manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle, while ensuring adequate client/team communication, adherence to budget, scope, and schedule.

ANSi is continuing to develop our PMO discipline and will look toward this position to assist with guidance and direction in implementing processes and structure to support these efforts. This opportunity presents the candidate with the ability to be a part of developing a true PMO using best practices and personal experiences. We are not looking for just another project manager to fill an open position, but a true team player who will take ownership and accountability of not just this assignment, but also in assisting ANSi in growth and structure.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning
• Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the program management office, senior management and stakeholders
• Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents, using appropriate tools
• Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals, making appropriate changes during project life cycle as necessary
• Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary

Project Execution
• Direct and manage projects from beginning to end, tracking project milestones and deliverables
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
• Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
• Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
• Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management

Communication
• Effectively set and communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion based on a communication plan developed in concert with the client
• Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
• Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas

Leadership / Growth
• Coach, mentor, motivate and guide project team members and consultants, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
• Build strong relationship with all stakeholders, especially the critical members of the client team
• Identify and develop areas of potential development within client’s organization as it relates both to this project (future releases) as well as to other potential opportunities

Experience Requirements:
• BS/BA in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience
• 3 – 10+ years of general business or IT/software development management experience
• 3+ years of project management experience, PMP Certification preferred
• An in-depth knowledge of enterprise business systems a plus
• Experience with COBOL re-engineering lifecycle and familiarity with relevant technologies (legacy COBOL systems, RDBMS migration, code re-factoring, system integration, new COBOL, .NET/Java development)
• Experience adapting project management style as appropriate for each project (waterfall versus agile)

• Process focused, results oriented with strong project management skills
• Ability to operate in an unstructured and highly variable working environment
